| Ronstadt's most straight-forward album in a decade is, unsurprisingly, her best. Relying on her k.d.-meets-Aretha-style voice and the same sturdy California folk rock that made her a '70s superstar, she sounds invigorated. Her balladeering can still get a bit heavy, but her cover of Tom Petty's "The Waiting" is grounds for forgiveness. grade: A- |
